Bravo is a US cable channel more inclined to schedule reality series such as Top Chef and The Real Housewives franchise.
But as the network, like so many others, pushes into original drama series, it has commissioned two pilots that are due to enter production in early 2013.
The first is Rita, an adaptation of a Danish ‘dramedy’ about a politically incorrect teacher, which will be produced by Fox Television Studios. A second season of the original series, produced by SF Film, has been ordered by Denmark’s TV2.
Also getting the greenlight is The Joneses, from ABC Studios. The show, created by Liz Tigelaar (Life Unexpected), is a remake of a 2009 movie of the same name that starred Demi Moore and David Duchovny. The plot concerns an apparently normal family who move to an upmarket suburb, although they aren’t a real family at all.
Announcing the pilot orders, NBCUniversal-owned Bravo said it plans to debut its first original scripted series in the fourth quarter of next year.
