US cable channel has ordered a third helping of its post-Civil War drama Hell on Wheels, which will be helmed by the exec producer of V and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.
John Wirth will be showrunner and exec producer of the third season of the show, which will air in the third quarter of 2013 in the US. The order is for 10×60′ episodes.
Hell on Wheels focuses on the eponymous lawless town that travels with the construction of the first transcontinental railroad, examining themes of greed and corruption, the immigrant experience and the plight of the newly emancipated African-American workers.
The series, which airs on AMC alongside Mad Men and Breaking Bad, was developed by Endemol USA and is produced by Entertainment One and Nomadic Pictures. It was created by Joe and Tony Gayton.
