US premium cable network Showtime knows when it’s onto a good thing.
So it’s no surprise to see the president of entertainment David Nevins order new seasons of Shameless, House of Lies and Californication.
The third season of Shameless – the US adaptation of the UK drama – is averaging 5.4 million viewers compared to 4.4 million for season two and 3.3 million for its debut season. It is produced by Bonanza Productions, John Wells Productions and Warner Bros Television.
House of Lies – produced in-house by Showtime – is also up with an average of 3.2 million viewers each week for its second season from 2.91 million for its debut run.
Veteran series Californication, now in its sixth season from creator Tom Kapinos, is also picking up new viewers with an average of 3.1 million, up from 2.5 million in season five.
Production for new seasons of each show will begin later this year.
