It’s barely midway through its debut season but the BBC has ordered a second season of its crime drama Ripper Street.
The series, produced by Tiger Aspect and Lookout Point, will continue for eight more episodes in 2014.
BBC America is also on board for the second run, which will return to the East End of London in 1889 during the aftermath of the Jack the Ripper murders.
Ripper Street is executive produced by Will Gould, head of drama at Tiger Aspect; creator and writer Richard Warlow; Lookout Point’s Simon Vaughan; and Polly Hill for the BBC.
Shooting will begin this spring for transmission in 2014. BBC Worldwide distributes the series internationally.
