Cameras roll on The Bridge

With two international adaptations now commissioned in the US and the UK, Danish/Swedish coproduction The Bridge (aka Broen/Bron) is one of the biggest television dramas in the international marketplace.

And production is now underway on the second season of the original series, which is due to air locally this autumn on Danish broadcaster DR and Swedish network SVT.

It is produced by Denmark’s Nimbus Film and Sweden’s Filmlance.

The first season, which aired in autumn 2011, followed detectives from both countries after they found a body on the Øresund Bridge, which links Copenhagen in Denmark with Malmö in Sweden.

Filming began last month with actors Sofia Helin and Kim Bodia returning to their respective lead roles.

A US version of The Bridge has been ordered by cable network FX following a successful pilot, while Sky Atlantic in the UK and Canal+ in France have greenlit a UK/French adaptation called The Tunnel.
