US network Fox has given one of its freshman dramas an early renewal for 2013/14.
Midseason entry The Following has been greenlit for a 15-episode second season, matching the episode order it received for its first year run.
The psychological thriller stars Kevin Bacon as a retired FBI agent who returns to duty when a serial killer he captured years earlier escapes prison and inspires a cult of serial killers.
The Following was created by Kevin Williamson, who also writes and executive produces the show. Marcos Siega is also an executive producer.
It is produced by Bonanza Productions in association with Outerbanks Entertainment and Warner Bros Television.
Fox has already renewed another drama for 2013/14, Bones, which will return for its ninth season.
