Crackle picks up Shield

US cop drama The Shield will be rolled out online from next month.

Free-to-view VoD platform Crackle has added the series to its collection of library content and will launch seasons one and two on April 1.

Subsequent seasons of the show, which ended its run on cable network FX in 2008, will then be released every three months until all seven seasons are online in March 2014.

The Shield stars Michael Chiklis as a detective working in an inner-city Los Angeles police precinct where cops break the rules to keep the streets safe and look after themselves.

Other television dramas already available on Crackle include Rescue Me.

The Shield was produced by Sony Pictures Television, The Barn Productions, 20th Century Fox Television and MiddKid Productions.
