ITV4 in the UK has secured free TV rights to US Western drama Hell on Wheels.
The channel has secured all three seasons of the series (30×60′), commissioned by cable channel AMC, and will launch it this summer.
Hell on Wheels is set in 1860s post-Civil War America in a lawless melting pot of towns and settlements that moves with the construction of the first transcontinental railroad.
It follows a Confederate soldier arrives in Hell on Wheels and takes work on the railroad’s construction in an attempt to track down and exact revenge on the Union soldiers who killed his wife.
The series is produced by Entertainment One in association with Endemol USA and Nomadic Pictures.
ITV4 picked up the show from Endemol Worldwide Distribution, which holds European television distribution rights to the series.
It has previously sold the series into France (AB Droits); Austria, Germany, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg and Switzerland (TNT); Turkey (CNBC-e); Slovakia (Slovak TV); Central and Eastern Europe, Belgium, Greece, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Spain, Portugal, Turkey (Sundance Channel); Norway (TV Norge); Spain (Antena 3); Denmark and Sweden (TV3); Ireland (RTE) and the UK (TCM).
