Telemundo preps El Señor de los Cielos

US Hispanic network Telemundo is preparing to launch its forthcoming drama El Señor de los Cielos (aka The Lord of the Skies), which it describes as its most ambitious coproduction ever.

Telemundo-owned Telemundo Studios and Colombia’s Caracol TV have partnered for the original production, which is being shot in Mexico and will air this spring.

Inspired by true events, the story follows a police officer (Gabriel Porras) specialising in drug trafficking whose sole mission is to capture one of the biggest Mexican drug lords of the 1990s and who was known as the Lord of the Skies, played by Rafael Amaya.

Spanish-language network Telemundo and Telemundo Studios are part of Telemundo Media, which is owned by NBCUniversal.
