US VoD platform Netflix is showing no signs of slowing down its original production drive after ordering a new series that also represents the first television show from the Wachowskis (The Matrix).
Sense8 is described as a global tale of minds linked and souls hunted, created by Andy and Lana Wachowski and showrunner J Michael Straczynski (Babylon 5).
The ten-part series is produced by Reliance Entertainment-owned Georgeville Television in association with Studio JMS.
Marc Rosen, Leon Clarance and Deepak Nayar will executive produce the series, which Netflix subscribers will be able to watch in late 2014.
Netflix last month launched its first original series, House of Cards, from Media Rights Capital. It is also set to launch horror Hemlock Grove, produced by Gaumont International Television, on April 19.
Georgeville Television currently has two other series in pre-production – NBC’s Crossbones and the remake of British science fiction series Blake’s 7 for Syfy.
