Discovery Channel’s first ever scripted miniseries, Klondike, was given top billing as the US network unveiled its 2013/14 programming slate.
The series, based on Charlotte Gray’s book Gold Diggers: Striking It Rich in the Klondike, is about six strangers and their fight for survival and wealth in a small frontier town.
Klondike is coproduced by Discovery, Entertainment One and Nomadic Pictures in association with Scott Free Television.
Entertainment One is also handling international distribution.
Paul Scheuring is the head writer and executive producer alongside Ridley Scott, David W Zucker, John Morayniss, Michael Rosenberg, Eileen O’Neill and Dolores Gavin.
Production began production last week on location in Alberta, Canada, and it is likely to debut in 2014.
