Distributor FremantleMedia International has launched the forthcoming remake of British sci-fi drama Blake’s 7 to worldwide buyers.
The series, produced by Georgeville TV, has been picked up by US cable network Syfy for a 13×60′ season.
It will be written by Joe Pokaski and directed by Martin Campbell.
Set in the year 2136, it tells the story of seven criminals – six guilty and one innocent – on their way to a prison colony in space who fight for their freedom and buy an alien shop for a second chance at life.
Blake’s 7 originally aired on the BBC in the late-1970s.
Georgeville TV is the independent studio cofounded by Leon Clarance of Motion Picture Capital, the financing arm of Reliance Entertainment, and producer Marc Rosen.
Other scripted series sold by FremantleMedia International include prison series Wentworth (10×60′), produced by FremantleMedia Australia for Foxtel; and The Making of a Lady, a psychological thriller produced by Runaway Fridge for ITV in the UK.
