French pay TV network Canal+ has acquired two US series – Banshee and Vikings.
Banshee (10×60′), created by Alan Ball for HBO sister network Cinemax, tells the story of an ex-con and master thief who assumes the identify of a sheriff in the eponymous town in Pennsylvania and continues his criminal activities as he is hunted by the gang he betrayed years earlier.
Canal+ will air Banshee in 2014, while it has already been renewed for a second season in the US.
Vikings (9×60′) is the first original drama series commissioned by US cable channel History and was created by Michael Hirst (The Tudors).
Produced by Take 5 Productions and World 2000, the series explores the battles and adventures of Viking society. It too has been renewed for a second season and will debut on Canal+ in June this year.
