Two new US dramas have been picked up by Discovery Networks-owned TLC ahead of the network’s UK launch.
The first is Devious Maids, which comes from Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry and tells the story of a group of maids who work for the rich and famous in Beverly Hills.
It is based on the Mexican telenovela Ellas son la Alegría del Hogar and produced by ABC Studios. Cherry executive produces with Sabrina Wind, Eva Longoria, Paul McGuigan, Larry Shuman, David Lonner, John Mass and Televisa USA’s Paul Presburger and Michael Garcia.
Devious Maids was originally developed by US network ABC but was picked up to series by cable channel Lifetime, where it will make its debut in June.
TLC has also picked up Mistresses, the US version of the British drama about a group of female friends who have a string of affairs.
It is produced by ABC Studios and UK production company Ecosse Films, who made the original series for the BBC. It also launches in June on ABC.
TLC launches in the UK on April 30.
