Kormákur takes EVE Online to television

Filmmaker Baltasar Kormákur has partnered with an Icelandic computer games company to produce an international television series based on the video game EVE Online.

Kormákur, currently in post production on his feature film 2 Guns, which stars Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg, has partnered with CCP Games to produce a series that will be set in the game’s universe – a future history of rival societies trapped beyond a wormhole in a dystopian sci-fi world.

Joining Kormákur on the project are producer Magnus V Sigurdsson and writers Ólafur Egilsson and Sigurjón Kjartansson.

Kormákur is also directing the forthcoming HBO thriller pilot The Missionary, which is produced by Wahlberg, Stephen Levinson and creator Charles Randolph.
