Canadian broadcaster CTV has ordered a second season of its original drama Motive for the 2013/14 season.
Thirteen new episodes of the show have been greenlit, with production set to begin this summer for 2014.
The announcement came ahead of the conclusion of season one later this month.
Motive, produced by Foundation Features and Lark Productions in association with CTV owner Bell Media, focuses on not who did the crime but why the crime was committed in the first place by showing the victim and the killer from the start and using flashbacks to show why the murder happened.
It is executive produced by Daniel Cerone, Louise Clark, Rob Merilees, Erin Haskett, Rob LaBelle, Lindsay Macadam, James Thorpe and Dennis Heaton.
The showrunners for season two will be Thorpe and Heaton.
In January, Motive was picked up by US broadcast network ABC and will launch later this month. The series is distributed internationally by NBCUniversal International Television Distribution.
