Starz sets drama in Fleet Street

US premium cable network Starz teamed up with broadcaster and former tabloid editor Piers Morgan for a new original drama set in the heart of London’s newspaper industry during the 1970s.

Fleet Street, named after the road that has become synonymous with the UK press, will chronicle the rise of tabloid journalism, the sexual revolution and class warfare – as seen through the eyes of an American journalist.

It will be produced by Lionsgate in association with Sir Richard Branson’s Virgin Produced, Octagon Entertainment and Morgan’s Ferret Productions.

Morgan will executive produce with Octagon MD John Ferriter and Virgin’s Jason Felts, Justin Berfield and Michael Forman.

Danny Brocklehurst will write the pilot episode and also executive produce.
