Breaking Bad is getting a Latin American makeover.
Sony Pictures Television and its Colombian production subsidiary Teleset have announced plans to produce a Spanish language adaptation of the US drama, which will be known locally as Metástasis.
Among the networks that will air the show include Univision’s UniMas in the US.
Metástasis, like Breaking Bad, will follow an unassuming chemistry teacher who is given a fatal diagnosis and enters a world of drugs and crime, where he ascends to power.
Breaking Bad, which airs in the US on AMC, is in its fifth and final season.
And it will be the latest series to be adapted by Sony Pictures Television, which has produced local versions of Married…with Children in territories including Colombia and Israel; Everybody Loves Raymond in five territories including the Middle East and Russia; The King of Queens in Bulgaria and Russia; and I Dream of Jeannie in India.
