USA Network seeks new Horizon

USA Network will begin production on new pilot Horizon this summer as part of a new slate of dramas in development at the cable channel.

Horizon, a period drama set during World War Two, follows a secretary at the FBI who delves into mysterious project Horizon, which has links to the death of her husband, the disappearance of a young girl and has caught the interest of undercover Nazis in the US.

Gale Anne Hurd (The Walking Dead) will executive produce the pilot for her Valhalla Entertainment label with Universal Cable Productions. Bridget Tyler will write and co-executive produce. Production will begin this summer.

In development at USA is The Arrangement, created by Cheryl Heuton and Nicolas Falacci and inspired by a short story from the Elmore Leonard anthology When The Women Come Out To Dance.  It tells the story of a Columbian woman who trades her tragic and mysterious past for a fresh start in Miami by entering into a marriage with a well-meaning and ambitious politician.

Universal Cable Productions is producing with executive producers Doug Liman and David Bartis from Hypnotic.

The Edge, from Universal Cable Productions and executive producer John Legend’s Get Lifted Film Co, is about one idealistic man’s journey after he leaves an NGO to join the world’s top venture capital firm. It is executive produced by writers Adam Hoff and Justin Herber, and Mike Jackson and Ty Stiklorius.

Complications, from Fox Television Studios and writer and executive producer Matt Nix (Burn Notice), is about an ER doctor whose life changes when he is involved in a gang shooting and attempts to treat the cause of his patients’ medical problems.

Bank follows a young FBI agent who joins the bank crimes division in Los Angeles. It is produced by Universal Cable Productions, written and co-executive produced by Nora Zuckerman and Lilla Zuckerman and executive produced by Hypnotic’s Doug Liman and David Bartis.

Blanco County, based on the books by Ben Rehder, focuses on a pro baseball player who after the death of the father returns home to find inept local cops, leading him to run for sheriff and win. From Tom Welling Productions and Rob Thomas Productions in association with Warner Horizon Television, it is written by Rob Thomas and executive produced by Thomas, Tom Welling, Danielle Stokdyk and Dan Etheridge.

Don’t Turn Around is a limited series about a group of staff on a remote island who become trapped when a storm moves in and struggle to survive. From Grady Girl Productions in association with Warner Horizon Television, it is written by JR Orci, who executive produces with Dawn Olmstead.

Hungry, inspired by restauranteur Joe Bastianich’s life and book Restaurant Man, is about the son of a famous chef who tries to open his own restaurant. From Universal Cable Productions, it is executive produced by writer Michael Rauch (Royal Pains) and Bastianich.Shadow Counsel is a legal thriller about a former Army JAG attorney working as a criminal lawyer in New York who is recruited by the FBI to crack an ongoing investigation. It is produced by Universal Cable Productions and executive produced by writer Barry Schindel (Castle) and David Semel (Hemlock Grove).
