Universal Channel schedules Motive

It’s been renewed for a second season in Canada, with its US buyer ABC preparing its launch stateside.

Now crime drama Motive is heading to the UK after Universal Channel acquired the series from distributor NBCUniversal International Television Distribution.



The show begins each episode by revealing not only who the victim is but the killer as well, using flashbacks to show how and why the murder happened as a female homicide detective and her team try to solve the murder.

Motive, which stars Kristin Lehman, Louis Ferreira and Lauren Holly, is produced by Foundation Features and Lark Productions in association with Bell Media – owner of its Canadian broadcaster CTV.

The executive producers are Daniel Cerone, Louise Clark, Rob Merilees, Erin Haskett, Rob LaBelle, Lindsay Macadam and James Thorpe.

Motive will debut on Universal Channel on June 19.
