ABC Australia sets Sunday drama schedule

ABC in Australia has tonight launched a run of new dramas airing on Sunday evenings on its flagship network ABC1.

Beginning this evening is Cliffy, in which Kevin Harrington starts as Cliff Young, a potato farmer from Victoria who became an unlikely sporting hero when as an ultra-marathon champion.

It is produced Clock End Films for ABC1, produced by Nigel Odell and written by Robert B Taylor. The executive producers are ABC’s Carole Sklan and Brett Sleigh.

Paper Giants: Magazine Wars, which begins on June 2, is a two-part drama about the battle of the ‘glossies’ between publishing industry giants Dulcie Boling and Nene King in the 1980s and 1990s.

The follow-up to Paper Giants: The Birth of Cleo, Magazine Wars, it is produced by Southern Star, with producer Mimi Butler, executive producer Janeen Faithful and writers Justin Faithful, Keith Thompson and Justin Mojo.

Then June 16 sees the debut of new 13-part drama The Time of Our Lives, which explores the life of a typical Australian family.

From creator Amanda Higgs (The Secret of our Lives) and writer Judi McCrossin, it is produced by Jahm Pictures.
