Canal+ in France has begun production on the “third and final” season of papal drama Borgia.
The historical drama, created by Tom Fontana, will follow the Borgia family as they seek to achieve their dream of unifying Italy.
Production of the last season (12×52′) began on Monday and will last eight months, taking in locations such as the Czech Republic and areas of Italy, including Rome.
Borgia is produced by Atlantic Productions, Lagardère Entertainment, EOS Entertainment and Beta Film for Canal+, with producers Klaus Zimmermann, Olivier Bibas and Ferdinand Dohna.
The cast includes John Doman, Mark Ryder, Isolda Dychauk, Assumpta Serna, Diarmuid Noyes and Marta Gastini.
