Production has begun on Foxtel’s forthcoming drama miniseries Devil’s Playground.
A psychological thriller set within the Australian Catholic Church during the 1980s, it is a follow-up to the Fred Schepisi’s original film The Devil’s Playground.
Events of the miniseries take place 35 years after the film when a psychologist becomes entangled in political and theological intrigue.
Devil’s Playground is produced by Matchbox Pictures (The Slap, The Straits) and is being filmed on location in Sydney.
It is produced by Penny Chapman, Helen Bowden and Blake Ayshford. Tony Ayres, Simon Burke and Penny Win are the executive producers.
The miniseries, commissioned by the pay TV broadcaster, is written by Ayshford, Cate Shortland, Alice Addison and Tommy Murphy.
NBCUniversal International Television Distribution holds worldwide sales rights.
