Georgian pay TV broadcaster Rustavi 2 is dancing to a Brazilian beat after acquiring three telenovelas from Globo TV International.
Gabriela, Brazil Avenue and The Illusionist have all been acquired for the network, which will soon be on air.
Based on the original 1970s series, Gabriela (55×45′) is about a migrant worker who mesmerises the people of the town she arrives in. Inspired by the novel Gabriela, Clove and Cinnamon by Jorge Amado, it is written by Walcyr Carrasco.
The format is owned by Warner Bros International Television Production and produced by Globo TV.
Brazil Avenue (aka Avenida Brasil, 160×45′), written by João Emanuel Carneiro, tells the story of a young girl who fights to regain the life that was stolen from her by her evil stepmother.
The Illusionist (aka O Astro, 50×45′), from writer Janete Clair, follows a man’s rise from street scam artist to supernatural magician.
