It was cancelled by NBC last month after just two seasons.
But that hasn’t stopped arts-focused US cable channel Ovation from nabbing off-network rights to the entire series of Smash.
The show told the story of a struggling New York theatre company as it brings a new musical based on the life of Marilyn Monroe to the stage.
It stars Debra Messing, Jack Davenport, Katharine McPhee, Christian Borle, Megan Hilty, Jeremy Jordan and Anjelica Huston.
Smash is produced by Universal Television in association with DreamWorks Television, and executive produced by Steven Spielberg, Joshua Safran, Craig Zadan, Neil Meron, Darryl Frank, Justin Falvey, Marc Shaiman, Scott Wittman, Jim Chory and Theresa Rebeck.
It first aired on NBC in February 2012 but wasn’t renewed for a third season when the broadcaster unveiled its schedule for 2013/14.
Smash will debut on Ovation on July 19, with season two following in November.Source: Ovation
