Nimbus Film has indicated there will be a third season of Danish/Swedish crime drama The Bridge (aka Bron/Broen).
The second season of the series, coproduced by Nimbus and Sweden’s Filmlance for DR and SVT, is due to debut this autumn.
But in announcing that fans will get to see the new run air across ten consecutive weeks, Nimbus revealed that the story will lay the foundations for a third season.
The first season brought together mismatched detectives Martin Rohde and Saga Norén, played by Kim Bodnia and Sofia Helin, after the discovery of a body on the Øresund Bridge, which links Copenhagen in Denmark with Malmö in Sweden.
The Bridge is distributed by Germany’s ZDF Enterprises.
The US remake of the series is due to air on cable network FX on July 10.
