Two Canadian broadcasters have partnered to pick up rights to US premium cable network Showtime’s forthcoming drama Masters of Sex.
Corus Entertainment’s Movie Central (western Canada) and Bell Media’s The Movie Network (eastern Canada) will air the 12×60′ series, which chronicles the unusual lives and romance of sexual pioneers William Masters and Virginia Johnson.
The show is an adaptation of Thomas Maier’s book Masters of Sex: The Life and Times of William Masters and Virginia Johnson, The Couple Who Taught America How To Love.
It stars Michael Sheen and Lizzy Caplan as the leading couple.
Sony Pictures Television is the producer, with producers Sheen, Maier and Tammy Rosen and executive producers Michael Ashford, Sarah Timberman, Carl Beverly and Judith Verno.
It will debut on both networks on September 29 – the same date as its Showtime premiere.
