ABC Family takes more Switched at Birth

US cable network ABC Family has ordered a third season of its original drama Switched at Birth, and ordered more episodes of two new series.

Switched at Birth follows two families that are forever altered when they discover their daughters were switched at birth.

It is executive produced by Lizzy Weiss, Paul Stupin, Becky Hartman Edwards and John Ziffren. The cast includes Katie Leclerc, Vanessa Marano, Constance Marie, DW Moffett, Lea Thompson, Lucas Grabeel, Sean Berdy and Gilles Marini.

Meanwhile, ten new episodes of both The Fosters and Twisted will be produced, extending the first season of each show.

The Fosters, produced by Nuyorican Productions and Prodco, is about a multi-ethnic family mix of foster and biological kids being raised by two mothers.

Creators and writers Bradley Bredeweg and Peter Paige are executive producers alongside Jennifer Lopez, Joanna Johnson, Elaine Goldsmith Thomas, Benny Medina and Greg Gugliotta. It stars Teri Polo, Sherri Saum, Jake T Austin, Hayden Byerly, David Lambert, Maia Mitchell, Danny Nucci and Cierra Ramirez.

Twisted is a mystery drama about a charismatic 16-year-old with a troubled past who returns to his hometown after spending five years in juvenile detention.

Charles Pratt Jr is joining the Prodco production team for the additional episodes as a writer and executive producer alongside executive producers Gavin Polone, David Babcock and Adam Milch. It stars Avan Jogia, Maddie Hasson, Kylie Bunbury, Kimberly Quinn, Sam Robards, Ashton Moio and Denise Richards.
