Starz is checking out of its Miami-based period drama Magic City after two seasons.
The US premium cable network confirmed reports it had been cancelled with this message on the programme’s Facebook page:
Fans, you’ve been there with us through it all, and for that, we’re grateful.
The finale for Magic City on Friday will be not only for the second season, but will conclude the show’s run on Starz. We salute the show’s writers, cast, and crew for their consistently remarkable work, thank all of you here who checked in to the Miramar Playa, and remind everyone that, now and forever, Ike is the fucking shark.
Thanks for the conversation.
Magic City, created by Mitch Glazer, was set in 1959 and told the story of the owner of one of Miami’s most glamorous hotels, the Miramar Playa.
The cast included Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Danny Huston, Olga Kurylenko, Steven Strait, Jessica Marais, Christian Cooke, Elena Satine, Dominik Garcia-Lorido and Taylor Blackwell.
It first debuted in March 2012, but was renewed for a second season a month earlier – before its premiere.
