EOne readies Rambo for television

After four appearances on the big screen, Rambo is being developed as a television series.

Producers Entertainment One has partnered with Avi Lerner and Nu Image to create a scripted drama based on the original movies.

It will then be shopped to broadcasters in the US and internationally, while Sylvester Stallone – who portrayed Rambo on film – is in talks to be involved in front of and behind the camera.

Based on the David Morell novel First Blood, the Rambo series is about a troubled Vietnam War veteran and former Green Beret who is skilled in many aspects of survival, weaponry, hand to hand combat and guerrilla warfare. The series consists of the films First Blood, Rambo: First Blood Part II, Rambo III and Rambo.

The television series will be produced by eOne in association with Lerner and Nu Image. The executive producers will include John Morayniss for eOne and Lerner for Nu Image, with eOne handling the worldwide rights to the series.
