NBC adds original series for summer

NBC has set the date for two summer premieres – The Night Shift and Crossbones.

The Night Shift, produced by Sony Pictures Television and launching on May 27, is a medical drama about the men and women who work the overnight shift at San Antonio Memorial Hospital.

The cast includes Eoin Macken, Jill Flint, Ken Leung, Brendan Fehr, Daniella Alonso, Robert Bailey Jr, Jeananne Goosen, JR Lemon and Freddy Rodriguez. The executive producers are Gabe Sachs and Jeff Judah.

Pirate drama Crossbones, from Parkes/MacDonald Productions and Universal Television, is set in 1715 in the Bahamas where Blackbeard reigns over a nation of thieves, outlaws and miscreant sailors.

The cast is headed by John Malkovich, with Richard Coyle, Tracy Ifeachor, David Hoflin, Yasmine Al Massri, Chris Perfetti and Claire Foy. The executive producers are Neil Cross, Walter F Parkes, Laurie MacDonald, Ted Gold and Ciaran Donnelly.

Crossbones debuts on May 30.
