Nackt unter Wölfen gets fresh retelling for Das Erste

German producer UFA Fiction is adapting Bruno Apitz’s 1958 novel Nackt unter Wölfen (Naked among wolves) for national broadcaster Das Erste.

The story is about a group of prisoners inside Buchenwald concentration camp who risk their lives to hide a Jewish child.

Filming begins in mid-April in the Czech Republic and Germany.

It is produced by UFA Fiction in association with MDR, ARD Degeto, WDR, SWR and BR.

It is directed by Philipp Kadelbach from a screenplay by Stefan Kolditz. The executive producers are Benjamin Benedict, Nico Hofmann and Sebastian Werninger, and the producers are Verena Monssen and Korinna Roters.

Nackt unter Wölfen is due to air in the second quarter of 2015 on Das Erste.
