Lifetime is taking The Lottery to Canada.
The Shaw Media-owned network has picked up the original drama recently ordered by its US namesake and will air it simultaneously across the border later this year.The ten-part conspiracy thriller is set in a dystopian future when women have stopped having children and the world is on the brink of extinction. Remarkably, 100 embryos are successfully fertilized and the government holds a national lottery to choose the surrogates. As conflict, control and mystery over this crisis grow, the government’s increasing power ignites a controversial debate over the fundamental freedom to raise a family.The cast includes Marley Shelton, Michael Graziadei, Martin Donovan and David Alpay.It was written by Timothy J Sexton, who executive produces with Dawn Olmstead. It is produced by Grady Girl Productions in association with Warner Horizon Television.
