BBC One has cancelled its World War One drama The Crimson Field.
Writer Sarah Phelps confirmed the news on Twitter:
The Crimson Field is set in a tented field hospital on the coast of France where a team of doctors, nurses and women volunteers work together to heal the bodies and souls of men wounded in the trenches.
The hospital is a frontier: between the battlefield and home front, but also between the old rules, hierarchies, class distinctions and a new way of thinking.
The Crimson Field stars Suranne Jones, Oona Chaplin, Hermione Norris, Alice St Clair, Marianne Oldham, Kerry Fox, Kevin Doyle, Jack Gordon, Alex Wyndham, Richard Rankin, and Jeremy Swift.
The 6×60′ series was produced by BBC Drama Production and distributed by Endemol Worldwide Distribution.
The executive producers are Phelps and Anne Pivcevic, with producer Annie Tricklebank.
