ITV makes Jambusters

The impact of World War Two on a group of inspiration women living in a rural community is the subject of a new drama commissioned by ITV.

Jambusters (working title) is set in an isolated village where the war separates the women from husbands, fathers, sons and brothers, and they find themselves under increasing and extraordinary pressures in a rapidly fragmenting world.

The six-part series is created and written by Simon Block, with episodes also written by Mark Burt and Tina Pepler.

It is produced by the ITV Studios team led by Francis Hopkinson, who executive produces with Catherine Oldfield. The producer is Sue de Beauvoir.

Jambusters, inspired by the book of the same name by Julie Summers, will begin shooting in September and is likely to air in 2015.
