Stonemouth, the novel by author Iain Banks, is to be adapted into a two-part drama for BBC Two.
The story, set in the eponymous fictional Aberdeenshire village, focuses on the character of Stewart Gilmour, who returns for his best friend’s funeral. Run out of town a year earlier by his girlfriend’s family, Stewart is forced to face up to his own past whilst uncovering the sinister truth behind his friend’s apparent suicide.
Written by David Kane, it is produced by BBC Scotland and Slate North. The executive producers are Christopher Aird and Andrea Calderwood.
Filming will take place across Scotland from October.
