While 50 Shades of Grey is heading to cinemas, another trilogy of erotic novels are being adapted for television.
Televisa USA has acquired English language rights to Anne Rice’s The Sleeping Beauty books, which follow a beautiful young princess who is awakened from her long sleep and begins her journey to find herself.
The novels are described as “elegantly written, but with steamy, hot and very detailed sex scenes”.
Rice willl executive produce the series with Rachel Winter, Charlie Corwin, and Jessica Matthews.
The books were originally published between 1983 and 1985 under the pseudonym AN Roquelaure but hit the mainstream following the success of 50 Shades.
