Hulu orders Stephen King adaptation

US VoD platform Hulu has ordered an nine-hour event drama based on Stephen King’s novel 11/22/63.

The book, published in 2011, sees English teacher Jake Epping travel back in time in an attempt to prevent President John F Kennedy’s assassination on November 22, 1963. However, his mission is threatened by Lee Harvey Oswald, his falling in love, and the past itself.

Hulu has placed a straight-to-series order for the adaptation, which will be produced by Bad Robot Productions and Warner Bros Television.

King, JJ Abrams, Bridget Carpenter, and Bryan Burk are executive producers of 11/22/63. Carpenter will write the script. Bad Robot’s Kathy Lingg is co-executive producer, and Athena Wickham is producer.

Hulu will be the US home for 11/22/63, and Warner Bros Worldwide Television Distribution will distribute the series globally.
