Showcase in Canada has picked up Syfy’s new adventure thriller 12 Monkeys.
The Shaw Media-owned network will air the 13-episode series, based on Terry Gilliam’s 1995 film, in 2015.
It stars Aaron Stanford as a time-traveller from a decimated future who travels from 2043 to the present day to locate and eradicate the source of a deadly plague that threatens to annihilate the human race.
The cast also includes Amanda Schull, Kirk Acevedo, and Noah Bean.
The series is produced by Universal Cable Productions, in association with Atlas Entertainment. Showrunner Natalie Chaidez executive produces with Richard Suckle and Charles Roven. Terry Matalas and Travis Fickett, who co-wrote the pilot, are co-executive producers and Jake Kurily is the producer.
12 Monkeys debuts on Syfy on January 16, 2015.
