BBC One has ordered a fifth season of period drama Call the Midwife.
Season five will consist of a Christmas special in 2015, followed by 8×60′ episodes in 2016.
The new run, produced by Neal Street Productions, will take the nuns and midwives into 1961.
The series will return to BBC One with the third Christmas episode next month followed by season four, which recently finished production.
Heidi Thomas continues to lead the writing team, with Pippa Harris as executive producing with Christopher Aird. Annie Tricklebank returns as producer.
