US cable network Logo TV will air forthcoming Channel 4 dramas Cucumber and Banana after signing on to coproduce the interlinked series.
Cucumber and Banana, written by Russell T Davies, will explore 21st century gay life in all its powerful, witty, dark and uplifting guises through the lens of two disparate generations.
Cucumber follows the lives and misadventures of Henry Best and his long-suffering boyfriend of nine years, Lance Sullivan. Meanwhile, Banana shows the individual lives of younger characters orbiting around Henry’s world, telling stories of modern love – the romantic, the obsessed, the hopeful, the lonely, the lost, and the lucky – in an urban setting.
The cast includes Vincent Franklin, Julie Hesmondhalgh, Freddie Fox, Cyril Nri, and James Murray.
They are produced by Red Production Company and will air on Logo TV in early 2015. Both series are slated for January 2015 releases on Channel 4 and sister network E4.
The deal was completed by BBC Worldwide North America. BBC Worldwide holds international distribution rights to the series.
