Amazon Prime Instant Video has picked up a package of US series after signing a deal with Entertainment One.
The agreement will see series from AMC and SundanceTV become available for subscribers in the UK and Germany from October, with new and future series online the day after their US broadcast.
The first projects heading to Amazon are AMC’s Halt & Catch Fire, and Turn, and SundanceTV’s The Red Road.
Halt & Catch Fire (20×60′) follows the personal computing boom in the 1980s through the eyes of a visionary, an engineer and a prodigy whose innovations directly confront the corporate behemoths of the time. It stars Lee Pace, Scoot McNairy, Mackenzie Rio Davis, Kerry Bishe, Toby Huss, and David Wilson Barnes.
From AMC Studios, it is created by Chris Cantwell and Chris Rogers. Jonathan Lisco is the showrunner and Mark Johnson and Melissa Bernstein from Gran Via Productions also executive produce.
Turn (20×60′), based on the book Washington Spies by Alexander Rose, is set in 1778 and tells the story of a New York farmer who brings together a group of childhood friends who become spies and turn the tide in America’s fight for independence. It stars Jamie Bell, Kevin McNally, Burn Gorman, Daniel Henshall, Seth Numrich, Angus MacFadyen, JJ Feild, Meegan Warner, and Heather Lind.
Also produced by AMC Studios, it is written by showrunner Craig Silverstein, with Barry Josephson from Josephson Entertainment executive producing.
The Red Road (12×60′) follows a local cop struggling to keep his family together while policing two clashing communities – the small town where he grew up and the neighbouring mountains that are home to a Native American tribe.
From writer Aaron Guzikowski and Sarah Condon, they executive produce with showrunner Bridget Carpenter.
