An Inspector Calls on Thewlis

David Thewlis will lead the cast of BBC One’s adaptation of JB Priestley’s play An Inspector Calls.

The Harry Potter star will star alongside Ken Stott, and Miranda Richardson, with Chloe Pirrie, Kyle Soller, Sophie Rundle, and Finn Cole completing the line-up.

Set in 1912, the story sees an inspector call unexpectedly to interrogate the members of a wealthy family after the suicide of a young woman. As their world unravels, each member of the family is found to have played a part in her death.

An Inspector Calls is produced by Drama Republic, and adapted for the small screen by Helen Edmundson,

Greg Brenman, Roanna Benn, and Lucy Richer executive produce, with Howard Ella producing.

Filming will begin next month, and it is due to air on BBC One later this year as part of the channel’s classic 20th Century literature season, which also includes adaptations of The Go-Between, Lady Chattersley’s Lover, and Cider With Rosie.
