Amazon retains Vikings

Amazon Prime Instant Video has secured rights to the third season of Vikings.

The series tells the extraordinary tales of the lives and epic adventures of these warriors and portrays life in the Dark Ages, a world ruled by raiders and explorers, through the eyes of Viking society.

It is commissioned by History in the US and sold by MGM Television.

Created by Michael Hirst, the show stars Travis Fimmel, Clive Standen, Katheryn Winnick, and Alexander Ludwig.

Hirst executive produces with Morgan O’Sullivan of World 2000, Sheila Hockin, John Weber of Take 5 Productions, Sherry Marsh, Alan Gasmer and James Flynn.

The series will launch on February 20, with a new episode released every Friday thereafter.

Vikings was the first US TV show brought to the UK exclusively by Amazon Prime Instant Video, in May 2013. The first two seasons are available to view alongside Starz series Black Sails and BBC drama Ripper Street.
