European broadcasters are preparing for the launch of a pan-continent crime drama described as a cross between The Wire and The Killing.
The Team, inspired by the work of Europol, tells the story of the people in the front line of fighting organised crime. Their work crosses European borders and is set in a shadowy world where drugs, money and even people change hands.
The story follows the members of a JIT (Joint Intelligence Team) as they unravel the tangled threads linking the murders of three young women in Denmark, Germany and Belgium.
The cast includes Lars Mikkelsen, Jasmine Gerat, and Veerle Baetens.
Produced by 11 organisations from eight countries, including six public broadcasters, the drama is also backed by the EU’s Creative Europe Media programme.
Those involved include Network Movie, ZDF, DR, Nordisk Film, Lumière, Superfilm, ARTE, ORF, SRF, SVT, and VTM.
It is due to air across all networks from this month.
