The cable channel is taking its Colony pilot to series, ordering a ten-part season from producers Legendary Television and Universal Cable Productions.

Set in a near future Los Angeles, the story follows a family torn apart by opposing forces as they balance staying together with surviving the struggle of the human race. The city exists in a state of occupation by a force of outside intruders. Some people choose to collaborate with the authorities and benefit from the new order, while others rebel and suffer the consequences.

The cast includes Josh Halloway, and Sarah Wayne Callies. It is executive produced by writers Carlton Cuse and Ryan Condal.

Filming will take place in Los Angeles.

This is the fourth original drama added to USA’s 2015 slate. The others include hacker drama Mr Robot, starring Christian Slater and Rami Malek; event series Dig, an international murder mystery starring Jason Isaacs and Anne Heche from executive producers Tim Kring and Gideon Raff; and unpredictable thriller Complications, from executive producer Matt Nix and starring Jason O’Mara and Jessica Szohr.
