ITV has ordered a third season of crime drama Broadchurch.
The second season, which concluded on ITV tonight, was often criticised after the huge success of the first, gripping season that charted the investigation into the death of schoolboy Danny Latimer.
But with both seasons averaging nine million viewers per episode, the broadcaster has had no doubts about making a third season commission.
Titles at the end of the season two finale revealed: Broadchurch will return.
Stars David Tennant and Olivia Colman will also reprise their roles as DI Alec Hardy and DS Ellie Miller.
The series is written by creator Chris Chibnall, and produced by Kudos Film and Television and Imaginary Friends Productions.
Chibnall also executive produces with Jane Featherstone.
Details of other cast members and filming dates will be confirmed at a later date, though the near two-year gap between seasons one and two means viewers may be counting down until spring 2017 to return to Broadchurch.
