Cold War drama Deutschland 83 has been pre-sold into Scandinavia ahead of its launch in Germany.
SVT in Sweden, NRK in Norway, DR in Denmark, YLE in Finland, and RUV in Iceland have all acquired the series from distributor FremantleMedia International.
It was previously sold to SundanceTV, making it the first German-language series ever to air on a major US network.
The series is produced by UFA Fiction for RTL, which has slated its debut for this autumn.
Deutschland 83 is described as a suspenseful coming-of-age story set against the real culture wars and political events of Germany in the 1980s.
The story follows Martin Rauch (Jonas Nay) as a 24-year-old East Germany native pulled from the world as he knows it and sent to the West as an undercover spy for the Stasi foreign service.
Created by Anna Winger and Joerg Winger, Deutschland 83 is executive produced by UFA Fiction’s Joerg Winger and Nico Hofmann.
