Spike TV develops Emergency Broadcast

US cable network Spike TV has partnered with Legendary Pictures to develop a new drama about government agents who work together to combat national and global disasters.

Emergency Broadcast, based on an idea by Thomas Tull, will be led by Sharon Levy, Ted Gold, and Justin Lacob.

Max Brooks, the author of the Zombie Survival Guide, is a consultant on the project.

Emergency Broadcast marks Spike TV’s latest move into original scripted series.

Tut will become the channel’s first drama in eight years when it launches this summer.

It has also announced script options for The Crusaders, from Pierce Brosnan’s Irish DreamTime, Sennet Entertainment, Michael Finch and writer David Franzoni; Deep Web, from Flying Studio Pictures, Gary Oldman, Douglas Urbanski, and Tony Krantz of Flame Ventures; The Chairman, based on the Stephen Frey novel; Red Mars, from Vince Gerardis, based on Kim Stanley Robinson’s Mars Trilogy; and War at the Shore, based on Richard D Bronson’s book.
