Here’s the first image from Maori-themed drama Tatau.
The series follows a pair of 20-something friends – Kyle and Paul – from London who are travelling the world looking for sun, fun and adventure.Kyle even gets a Maori tattoo.
While snorkeling in a lagoon, Kyle finds the body of a local girl tied up underwater, dead. But after returning to the lagoon with the police, the corpse has disappeared, and the friends find themselves in world of Maori myths, symbols and visions – until the truth of Kyle’s tattoo is revealed.
It stars Joe Layton, Theo Barklem-Biggs, and Shushila Takao.
Tatau is coproduced by Touchpaper TV and South Pacific Pictures for BBC Three and BBC America.
It is written by Richard Zajdlic, who executive produces with Rob Pursey, John Barnett, Chris Bailey, and Matthew Read. John Rushton is the producer.
The show debuts next month on BBC Three.
